CAD Designer

The CAD Designer is charged with the responsibility of designing innovative, elegant equipment and other tools required to support Production, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Business Development Teams.  The CAD Designer must remain current on new design software and incorporate innovative features into equipment, tooling and fixtures that will increase productivity, deliver repeatable product quality, guard the safety of our employees, and provide outstanding value to our customers.

Key Responsibilities and Purpose

The primary responsibility of the CAD Designer is to continue to develop and apply in-depth knowledge to the design of products. The application of this knowledge will enhance our productivity, quality, and safety while providing superior value to our customers.

Other responsibilities specific to this position include:

  • Providing design and costs to the Estimators to aid in developing quotes for our customers
  • Collaborating with Technologists, Manufacturing Engineers, Supervisors, Tool Makers, and Suppliers to produce robust and cost effective designs
  • Producing final design drawings and costs for management review
  • Creating detailed drawings, bills of material, and routings for all new designs or engineering modifications to products and releasing routings so that work orders can be created to meet project due dates
  • Maintaining expert knowledge in the use of SolidWorks Design or other design software products
  • Developing and maintaining a library of technical publications and the most current product offerings to support design leadership and innovative solutions
  • Researching and implementing new technologies or processes that will reduce cost while improving productivity, safety, and quality


  • High School or Technical Degree
  • Technical Design Certification – SolidWorks preferred


Minimum of 5 years of experience designing dies. Requires working knowledge of:

  • Blueprint reading
  • CAD design
  • Estimating design costs
