Maintenance Technician 1st shift

The pay range for this position is between $20 - $28 per hour depending on experience.

General Description
The Facility Maintenance Technician is charged with the responsibility of safely, efficiently and expertly completing basic machine repair and prevention assignments in a professional, complete and tidy manner to support production needs. The goal of this position is to meet the expectation that all facilities and equipment will work to its original purpose and manufacturers’ specification after every work order or project.

Key Responsibilities and Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Facility Maintenance Technician is to safely perform basic machine maintenance efficiently by ensuring requisite supplies are present before a task begins, following standard operating procedures, drawing schematics or blue prints to replace or repair broken parts in order to return the equipment to its original capability.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Basic fork truck maintenance and repair
  • Tool Room equipment maintenance and repair
  • Dismantling, cutting, threading, straightening, reshaping, sharpening, replacing, attaching and re-assembling
  • Responding, diagnosing and repairing constrained and essential equipment as soon as a disruption or malfunction is detected and reported; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service.
  • Reading blue print and machine schematics
  • Lubricating machines according to specifications
  • Cleaning  and paint equipment and facilities
  • Performing Lock Out Tag Out procedures to ensure the safety of all employees
  • Communicating reactive or preventive maintenance performed, supplies used and time associated with the completed work using a computerized system and standard operating procedures
  • Communicating and address safety issues immediately as discovered in a collaborative way with Facilities Manager, Scheduler, supervisors, engineers and operators
  • Performing prevention and reactive maintenance on saws, drills, rolls, forklifts, hydraulic equipment and other small equipment as trained and assigned.
  • Performing minor plumbing, carpentry, and assembly, cleaning and facility repair assignments (i.e. floor repair, roof repair, snow removal, beautification of campus as trained and assigned)
  • Assisting in equipment implementation as assigned
  • Strictly complying with hygiene standards for all work areas
  • Safely and legally operating motorized vehicles and heavy equipment
  • Maintaining an organized, labeled spare parts inventory area
  • Storing tools in secured containers
  • Temporarily connecting power cables safely to equipment
  • Exhibiting exemplary safety habits in all work assignments ( i.e. Proper PPE)
  • Inspecting work equipment as directed
  • Supporting and participating in continuous improvement projects as requested

This position also requires the employee to:

Frequently lift up to 50 Lbs
Frequently pick up supplies from local vendors
Frequently work in high voltage areas
Occasional travel to other facilities as needed
Obtain a GSMW forklift certification
Maintain a current driver’s license

Qualifications and Competencies
To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the ability to accurately identify and reach the diagnosed area for repair, execute the repair and return the equipment to the desired state.  They must possess excellent orientation skills, and understand basic mechanical principles.  Other tasks include:

Knowledge to operate desktop computer
Knowledge to operate cellular and office telephone system
Knowledge to use Maintenance and ERP Systems

Education

Minimum GED
Mathematical knowledge preferred
Maintenance certification preferred

Experience

Minimum 1 year experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing environment

Salary/Wages and Benefits

A very competitive salary is offered for this position and will be based on the relative skills that you bring to the table.  Our interview and hiring process will allow us to determine the starting rate for this position.  The salary range for this position will be between $20 - $28 per hour, depending on experience.
