CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MANAGER

The Continuous Improvement Manager is charged with the responsibility of creating elegant, standardized manufacturing processes that produce exquisite quality and increase throughput in order to improve GSM’s performance as a supplier.

The primary responsibility of the Continuous Improvement Manager is to be a teammate, mentor, and resource that engages GSM employees, teams, suppliers, and customers.  The Manager will collaborate with these groups to create elegant, innovative processes that result in reduced variability and elimination of waste throughout our organization.  Other responsibilities that are specific to this position include:

  • Collaborating and process mapping all manufacturing and supporting processes of the company to identify inputs, sub-processes, outputs and outcomes that have the greatest opportunity for increasing throughput, reducing waste and improving predictability.
  • Driving to fully understand root cause of any issue before process improvement is undertaken
  • Developing and planning the process to teach our employees to become collaborating team members who think critically to understand current state, problem solve and implement solutions to broken or sub-optimized processes
  • Planning and managing CI projects to reach expected validation dates and target performance and ROI
  • Ensuring auditing execution and consistency to maintain improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrating lean discipline in all aspects of work
  • Mentoring and teaching CI project management to future CI leaders
  • Assisting Quality Manager in document and revision control of SOPs
  • Collaborating with the Logistics Manager, suppliers and customers to remove supply chain waste and increase throughput
  • Collaborating with the Curriculum Specialist to ensure instructional material demonstrates latest improved revisions for training purposes across all plants.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Cultural Development, Quality Manager, Quality Technicians, and Safety Manager to ensure process improvements focus on fabrication quality while maintaining the highest degree of safety for all employees

Education

  • 4 year Engineering degree (preferred)
  • Greenbelt (certification preferred)

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience of continuous improvement management in a metal fabricating environment.
