CNC Press Brake Operator - 2nd & 3rd (14.25-18.78)

CNC Press Brake Operator

General Description

The CNC Press Brake Operator is responsible for safely, productively, and skillfully creating beautiful metal fabricated parts to print.  Daily preventive maintenance and cleaning is required on: the press brake, inspection equipment, computer equipment, and the surrounding area.   Proper maintenance ensures our equipment runs in top condition and to full capability every day and the production environment is organized and efficient.

Organizational Relationships and Authority

The CNC Press Brake Operator reports directly to the Press Brake Supervisor. There are no direct reports to this position.

Key Responsibilities and Purpose

The primary responsibility of the CNC Press Brake Operator is to produce quality metal fabricated parts to customer print specifications using allotted standard times and processes.

 

Additional tasks include:

  • Using inspection devices to inspect parts, according to print and product inspection plan (PIP)
  • Using check fixtures to verify that the part is to print as required
  • Making small, mathematically calculated, angle corrections
  • Orienting the part correctly
  • Loading tooling in the order identified in the CNC program
  • Gathering required documents (Process Photos, Process Inspection Plans, Job Traveler, Print and work in process parts) to successfully run the job
  • Reading the print fully to understand tolerances, geometry, material thickness and special instructions
  • Reading traveler for special instructions
  • Wearing proper protective equipment, as directed by equipment or process
  • Understanding safety requirements in every area, and complying
  • Using material data sheets effectively
  • Participating in continuous improvement projects as requested
  • Performing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual department maintenance as assigned
  • Following Press Brake process standard operating procedures
  • Entering quantities and inspection results into the computer accurately

This position also requires the employee to seek additional skills trade certification, as reasonably requested by supervisors or managers

Qualifications and Competencies

To perform this job successfully, an individual must display the ability to read a blue print, calculate negative and positive adjustments, and have an understanding of basic geometry concepts.  They must possess basic computer skills including:

CNC Interface

Desktop or workstation computer

Manufacturing software and programs

Education

Press Brake, CNC or Quality or Machining Certification (preferred)

Blue Print reading

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

 

Experience

Minimum 1 year in a manufacturing environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to regularly or occasionally meet the following physical demands:

 

  • Speak clearly and understandably, with a pleasant tone of voice and manner

  • See a computer screen within reasonable reading distance without strain
  • Type at a keyboard without discomfort for some of the working day
  • Move around the office environment and manufacturing floor comfortably in order to fulfill tasks required in various offices and departments
  • Travel beyond the office environment by private or commercial aircraft, automobile, or golf cart without undue stress or discomfort
  • Lift up to 45 pounds independently

Wages and Benefits - $14.25 - $18.78 depending on experience with additional $1 for 2nd or 3rd shifts

Conditions of Hire

All employment with GSM, Inc., is at-will by the employer and employee and therefore subject to change. All new hires are made on 90-day provisional basis, after which time the employee's performance will be reviewed and an offer of employment extended.
